Off-camera flash with 2 flashes

I thought one flash was great, two is amazing!  I setup my wife's 580EX with a Lumiquest LTP (thank you Lumiquest!) and my 550EX with the Lumiquest III.  Set both flashes to manual mode and dial the power till I got what I wanted which took about 5 test shots.  That's it!  It's actually pretty simple to do.   I need light stands.  I was limited to placing the flashes on the table.  But for now I'm very happy with the setup.

First go at off-camera flash

Picked up some cheapo wireless transmitter/triggers of the Bay and a Lumiquest Softbox III.  The transmitter/triggers works like a charm!  No miss fires yet :-)  I LOVE the Softbox III!  I can see myself using it for my food and watch photos.   And maybe portraits too.  As of now I'm using my 550EX mounted on a mini tripod.  I will likely add a light stand and my wife's 580EX into the mix.  I'll also need to play around with backdrops, reflectors and whatnot.  But for now I'll play around with my white cardboard and one flash.

Cheapo transmitter and trigger.

Lumiquest Softbox III

The Softbox III throws nice soft lighting!  I like a lot!  Can't wait to add a second flash and softbox!

The setup.

Benro and Photo Clam

This is my new travel support, Benro C-068M8 Travel Angel carbin fiber tripod with Photo Clam PC-33NS ball head. It's a very compact setup. Folds down to 14 1/2". It can hold my 1Ds MK II with the 28-70mm f/2.8. I can even point my camera down with no creeping! But, I wouldn't use the center column. It's not very steady. Especially with the 1Ds MK II and 28-70.  I would also recommend hanging your bag or a beanbag on the hook. This is going to be much better than my previous travel support, Slik Mini Pro tripod. No more planting my face on the sidewalk or setting up on trash cans LOL

See "Reflections" for test shot.

-Hight with center column extended 53 3/4" (136.5cm)
